The lumber industry in Atlanta has a rich history, beginning with early sawmills and evolving into major companies like Georgia-Pacific. Atlanta's growth as a transportation hub significantly contributed to the lumber trade, making it easier to move timber from surrounding areas. The city also emerged as a center for lumber distribution and retail, with businesses such as Robert Spector Co. catering to the local Atlanta market.
Since the early 1950s, Spector Lumber Co. has not only dedicated itself to providing essential services for residential and commercial additions and repairs, but has also been a steadfast supporter of community support. We understand the importance of giving back, which is why we've sponsored holiday charity drives, organized blood drives for veterans, and built schools, churches, and synagogues at cost. It truly warms our hearts to know that our efforts have helped strengthen our community. We are proud to have been part of creating some of Atlanta's most beloved bowling alleys during the 1950s, including the Atlanta Bowling Center, which opened in 1959.
